“We are wanting photos that represent us. We are fine to climb a bit of a mountain to get the best views and photos – we don’t mind a bit of adventure haha. We would like some beach ones too.”
When I received the email from Ellie, I knew we are in for an adventure. The weather was a bit stormy, yet the sun shone for us. We hike and cross the rice fields. Ellie and Glenn are true adventurers. The wedding was beyond extra ordinary. The vows are sung and the day ended with a golden sunset while raining. It was simply beautiful! I have not enough words ❤️
El Nido as always never failed us. We’ve shot many times in Nacpan but usually not a wedding. More often, couples stay away from doing a Nacpan wedding not because its not pretty enough, it is beautiful but due to some inconvenience. There is limited electricity and transportation maybe an issue. Originally, they planned for a small wedding but if you have lots of family and friends – and many would want to travel all the way from the land down under (Australia) to be part of their love story, why not make it more the merrier. If you go beyond that and appreciate its rawness, its perfect imperfections, its natural beauty and even its people – you know it is the place to be.
They came a few months back to check on Nacpan, El Nido and has decided that is IT. The place. The dream.
The day came and we drove to Nacpan. The roads has never improve much but we’re lucky because its dry season otherwise the road will be very difficult. The place was buzzing with excitement when we got there – everyone seems to be chilling and yet are busy too. We saw how they set up the reception area, how the pig is roasted and the wind blows so much that day. The wedding unfolded and we shot thru it.
We shot how it happened naturally – it is raw, it is beautiful, its crazy, it is “them”.
This is their story.
Say ‘I do” at El Nido. This was our first church wedding in El nido, and the reception followed at El Nido Cove resort. It was a mix of traditional wedding but has the edgy, laidback and dreamy vibe of a beach destination wedding. So fall in-love and feel the sass as you browse through Simon and Guia’s lovely wedding.
This Nacpan engagement shoot was where we work and and have fun with the whole gang. Yes the “whole gang”, because it wasn’t just the couple but the lot of friends who were with us doing this.
We came in rather late – we travelled all the way from Puerto Princesa and we got lost. There is almost no cellphone connection connection there and we actually didn’t know When we made it to the Jack’s place, where we are supposed to lodge – it is already dark. Their electricity is limited to certain hours only. Still, we somehow made BBQs that was already sand coated by the time we decided to eat it. We were tired, sleepy yet happy and full.
Some love stories starts with one “hello”, so sing with me — because the lyrics certainly rings a bell for this couple.
If you’re not afraid
Of what love brings
Then endings are beginnings
Of beautiful things
It’s a chance you’ll take
It’s a chance you’ll win
If someone’s gonna find you
First you gotta let them in
It’s beautiful, serene, and romantic – that’s what an El Nido shoot would always be for us. The stories are never the same and the smiles are all genuine.
It was the moodiest weather we had ever encountered at that dreamy island. We need to stop shooting several times during the day to avoid getting soak but there were still short moments to enjoy and laugh it off. The rocks were slippery and the boat transfers were bumpy – going back to the mainland proved the most difficult, we felt like we were in the movie “life of Pi”. It was truly an experience we will never forget.
Again, this El Nido Elopement didn’t disappoint. It was simple, intimate and romantic.
The couple, Bianca and Dave were both musically gifted. They are from Australia and before they came to Palawan, I got this soft beautiful haunting song that I sometimes played along with 2000++ songs I have accumulated over the years from friends and people on the wedding industry. It turned out to be Bianca’s voice. Simply inspiring…
When words fail me, I hope these images will tell about the love story this amazing couple had shared with us on this tiny island of Matinloc in El Nido, Palawan.
Wherever ❤ goes, I will follow. Anywhere ❤ goes, I will follow. It’s amazing seeing two people, so diverse yet so inlove. All the way from Tasmania, Johanna and Sam decided to elope at the dreamy El Nido. This was their first time in Palawan and in the country — but it was just one of their stops here in the Philippines. Their trip was both an adventure, a joining of hearts and the honeymoon all in one. I thought the boatman was joking when he told me it is a heart shaped island — but it is! Don’t everyone wish to start their “forever” with one big adventure? I do ^^ and yeah, this is also a surprise to both their friends and family.
